vw tdi - 2006/11/09 03:37 i'm interested in a vw beetle tdi to run on veggie oil (svo/wvo/biodiesel). i'm wondering what is a good year model that is reliable mechanically and do the vw's run well on this fuel?

any advice/experience/thoughts would be helpful.

Re:vw tdi - 2006/11/09 14:56 We have some VW TDI's available to us, and are working on keeping detailed pics and descriptions available here, and possibly a couple of the vehicles.

Re:vw tdi - 2006/11/09 17:01 i'm envisioning a blue/indigo beetle (similar to the one you posted), with sunroof, cd/tape player, ac/heat, grayish/blue interior, plus all the other standard features - do you know if you have any of those?

Re:vw tdi - 2006/11/09 17:55 We have a VW Beetle TDI in the shop now, that we are converting. They are all good cars, the newer models are best. The conversion takes 2 days, and costs $900
We also have 7 VW TDI's available, ranging from $9,000 to $12,000

Re:vw tdi - 2006/11/09 18:02 They run great on vegetable oil, and like the Mercedes, you can run any blend of new or waste vegetable oil, Biodiesel, and/or regular diesel, in your existing fuel tank.

Re:vw tdi - 2006/11/09 19:06 thanks!

i was hoping you'd say you have some on your lot. i'll come by this weekend, hopefully you're open on sunday? if not i'll try work something out soon.

when you say they can run on any blend, does that mean i could starts with svo, and i'm on the road and can't find any svo, so i can put regular diesel in even if there's a small amount of svo in the tank? or i start with biodiesel and can mix with wvo, etc?

also, i'm wondering about the environmental effects of this fuel, not only in the air but on the land if it becomes more widely used. is there any research out there that could give me that information? it's a loaded question for you, and i know you're busy. so if you can point me in the right direction...?

have a gorgeous day...
