Image1987 300sdl the best thing I've ever done is to run it with vegetable oil!
It feels SO GOOD when I pass the gas stations!... I love it. Now my brother
is getting a Mercedes to convert it in Argentina where he lives. This is
great.

ImageI drive a 1999 E300.  I go by Peelu27 in the forums.  I had my car converted late 2007 and have driven 5000 miles on straight WVO with a tank or two of diesel in there (I went up to Utah and it was below freezing).  I’ve had no problems, the installation was very clean.  I don’t know about the year models apart from 1999 but my model has a gas tank heater element that activates when the in-car heater is turned on (this can be read from the vehicles basic user manual). Performance wise - the sound difference is remarkable, much smoother, and much less smoke and it is whiteish smoke, not black.  The power difference is slight (little less off the line) but this car has a lot of power and it will smoke the tires on veggie (good enough).  I admit that I took this car over 120 MPH on veggie on the way to Utah (out in the middle of  the desert - not recommended of course but I grew up racing things and still do so you’ll have to forgive me).

Keep up the good work!

Best, Matt

Hello,  I ordered my kit in mid Aug and it showed up a week later.  Knowing a bit about cars in took me about 2 hours to put it in and I was very surprised how easy it was ( my wife thought it would take all weekend.. I showed HER!).  I had about 1/2 tank of diesel and the other was new Veg oil.  It started right up.. and the cool thing is it stopped shaking and rattling (as diesels do) and quieted right down.. Ive been running on 100% FREE Filtered WVO since the 3rd of Sept!! Ive put about 9000 miles on the car since and my mileage went from 24 to 29 MPG on Veggie.  I love to drive by gas stations now... and keep on going.

It feels very good to be part of something that helps the environment and sticks it to the Middle East as well as our own greedy oil companies. I am so impressed with this product and the corporate climate at Lovecraft 3 of my friends have also converted.  I wish I had known about this 10 years ago!!! For those of you on the fence and are dollar minded I have more the twice earned back the cost of the kit in the last 2 months of driving.  My wife didn't believe it either... But she is a TRUE believer now.
KEEP GOING LOVECRAFT.. YOU are making a difference.

I am the fellow who installed one of your systems in Fiji for a Nissan Patrol. Your system has been working flawlessly and we have been on Fiji TV, Radio Fiji One, the local newspaper, and glossy magazine "Living in Fiji". We run entirely on 100% coconut biofuel which I filter from crude coconut oil to 1micron. We've done 30,000km so far without a filter change.

ImageHi ;-) Last time I was in, Jason got a pic of Forrest (my converted green 300SD) and I thought I'd tell you about my experience since the conversion. I've been running on veggie for two months and have logged 4000 miles with your system. I'm currently running a 50/50 mix of WVO and SVO and am very pleased with how the car runs. Even during the January cold snap (overnight temps in the 20s) starting was not an issue. MPG has remained the same, power is up with the petrosludge gone. Overall a very positive experience from my conversations with Ben before the conversion, Ben's work on the conversion, Jason's and your tips on WVO sources and prep and an awesome website to keep us informed. Kudos to Brian and crew for a job well done and continued success. Thanks again

I second that! I live in Seattle and I also have a 1980 300CD with a Lovecraft conversion ..no block heater, no line heaters... runs like a champ. I have been running a blend tho... about 20% dino... but our temps have been pretty low this winter, and when the pumps were drying up during the poweroutages, I was ridin high on Veggie!(No lines for oil at Costco!

Conversions in Washington State work fine! - 2007/02/02 10:29 I found a post from someone back in October wondering about driving a converted car in the Carnation/Issaquah area and I'd like to respond. I live in Bellingham Washington where temps can get down to as low as the upper teens. I drive a lovecraft converted '80, 300CD that I bought 1 year ago and it starts and runs just fine in our coldest weather. We installed the hot spark plugs we got from Brian and that's it. We considered a block heater this winter because it's been colder than usual but haven't needed it. Started the car this morning at 22 degrees. I only use straight veggie oil, no petrol added.

ImageTruck is running great! I drove straight to Santa Cruz then on through to Seattle- the truck hummed along beautifully the entire way. I now have over 1500 miles on the conversion with absolutely no problems. On the first couple of mornings with temperatures below freezing, it starts near instantly. Great job! I'm very pleased.

Just wanted to let you guys know how much we are loving our two converted Mercedes.  The first Mercedes we got in August 2006 was the '85 300 Turbodiesel which we purchased from a Mercedes mechanic who lives near us in Santa Clarita, who had converted it with one of your kits.  Enjoyed driving it so much we decided to sell one of our gas cars and get another Mercedes.  So sold the Camry, bought an '87 190 Turbodiesel, brought that in for Lovecraft to convert back in October, and been running on nothing but WVO we get from a couple of local Chinese restaurants ever since.  The 300 has been averaging 20-22 mpg, and the 190 averages 32-35 mpg.  I figure I'm saving an average of at least $400 a month on gasoline costs, which means both the Mercedes will have paid for themselves in just about 4 years.  Can't begin to express how much fun it is to pass by all the gas stations and wave and hope I never have to do business with them ever again.  The restaurants where we collect the waste oil were super friendly about it from the beginning, even thanking us for doing them the favor of taking it off their hands.  We have one of your refueling stations set up in a corner of our garage; just let the collected oil settle for 3-4 days, pour it through the filter into the barrel, use the hand pump to fill up the fuel tanks, and drive around with a big smile on our faces.  Both the cars run like champs - would not hesitate to take either one on any length of road trip.  Must confess that we wrestle to take turns driving the 190 since it is a true sports car in sheeps clothing - superb handling and acceleration in Mercedes comfort and style - it sounds contradictory, but you have to experience it to know it's not.  Anyway, have our local Mercedes mechanic (Steve Sloan, 818-668-2045) to do oil changes and any other maintenance work for really great rates - a little plug there if anyone else should be looking for an honest top-quality Mercedes mechanic in this area (Santa Clarita and San Fernando Valley area) we can't recommend him highly enough.  Looking forward to many years and miles of happy driving in our veggie cars (as we call them), and keep on pushing the vegetable oil conversion for all diesels to reduce pollution, use a renewable energy source, and hopefully end reliance on foreign oil. Thanks for everything.

Byron
Thank you for designing an amazing and simplistic way to run my 300d on veggie oil. Your kit kicks ass!

I love my new heat exchaner!  I am a milage checking neurotic.  Your heat exhcanger increased my milage from 25 mpg to 32 mpg!  How could this be?  I just bought on ebay some injector line heaters and I can't wait ot see how much this increases things.  I'm putting your web address in my inquiry as I wish you much exposure.  Thanks Hazard.....Hi to Mike he rocks big time.

Image This is the coolest car I have ever seen or owned. It's so much more fun to drive now that I don't have to empty my wallet at the filling station or spew so many toxins into the air. The car drives beautifully. Kudos to Brian for his ingenuity and unparalleled customer service support.

Lovecraft genuinely stands behind their work and have displayed nothing but solid integrity. My conversion was done quickly, and is a very professional looking job to this shade tree mechanic. I have not logged many miles on SVO, but the car is running smoother than expected during the break-in period and is currently my daily driver to the Westside.

Philro
The most striking thing about getting my car converted was the outright simplicity of it all. I kept asking question after question to those poor guys in the garage...What should I look for? How will it act? Is there anything I need to be aware of? What special maintenance should I expect to do? They kept saying the same thing.. nothing to do.. just drive it like normal.. in fact, on of the Mechs , when asked  What is the one thing you would tell someone who has the conversion done?  was Don't mess with it...change the filter when the car 'tells you to'. I guess people tend to OVER Maintain the cars, and change the filters long before they need it. I would! My enthusiasm is not containable. My car is in the break-in period now... running coscto soy. Seems quieter and more powerful (although that may just be my perception.. i have no empirical proof). Ran cooler and smoother on regular diesel too by the way, as I opted to not begin the SVO until I returned to the Bay Area later that weekend. Bottom line: My Lovercraft install experience was freindly and informative. They answered every question, and the car is running better than ever. (1980 300CD). I'm very happy with Lovecraft and the conversion. Its been over 3 months now, and the 300 is running like a champ. I MIX it up.. Some New VO, some BioDiesel (B-99), but I haven't put dino-juice in my vehicle for months. I moved to SEATTLE last month... Where it gets cold and wet, and everything is still working great!

I purchased a Veggie Car from Brian and I'm in love with my car. I told my attorney about it and he went out and got one too! I'm so impressed with their personal service. I'm proud to be a happy owner and highly recommend them to everyone.

ImageSeveral months ago I started noticing Reagan-era Mercedes Benzes parked around my neighborhood (Silverlake, Los Angeles). I'm talking about  alot  of these cars and all of them looking rather stately save for a bumper sticker in the back window that reads, "Fueled By 100% Vegetable Oil". I was intrigued and soon stumbled upon the source of this mystery. Lovecraft Biofuels, on the nearby and very busy Sunset Blvd. This place is a trip. It is absolutely packed with multi-colored and custom painted Mercedes. It turns out this guy Brian Friedman converts diesel engines to run off of pure veggie oil using his patented one tank system. (most conversions require two tanks). He does it cheaply and guarantees his work from soup to nuts. It does, however, require one to have patience because Brian doesn't like to be hassled. If you irritate or get pushy with him he won't sell you a car. A friend just bought one and now we think it's hilarious watching Brian turn people away. We affectionately refer to Brian as the "Biofuel Nazi". His business is absolutely booming! The car is great. Runs smooth and smells like popcorn cooking. http://www.firedoglake.com/2006/07/21/the-spin-im-in-angels-with-attitude/

ImageI was calculating my odometer while driving around Ventura county (usually just short trips) and I was getting about 26 miles per gallon on wvo and svo in my 82 300TD wagon. I thought that was great for a 24 year old car.  I had enough wvo to get from Camarillo to Monterey and back, but I forgot to filter it with the sock filter from Lovecraft. No big deal, I figured, I haven\'t paid for fuel in over a month, it wouldn\'t hurt, so I went to Smart and Final and it was on sale for $13.50 for 35lbs (4.37gal). Filled her up, drove to San Luis Obispo and stayed for a night, then headed up PCH to monterey. We drove around Monterey for the next 3 days when I realized I hadn\'t needed to put any more fuel in... I was up to 577 miles when my reserve light came on, which meant 577 miles on about 18 gallons = 32 mpg  So, I filled her up again with new veg oil I had bought in San Luis Obispo\'s Smart and Final that was sitting in the back. I hit the odometer again, and we headed back to Ventura County. We took the windy PCH through Big Sur, then to the 101 which was just under 300 miles and when I got home, the tank was still half full. I drove around until the reserve came on again, and I got to 584 miles on one tank, with the 2 gallons or so still in the reserve!  With a little planning, it was no problem mapping where the Smart and Finals were in order to have enough fuel. Before the conversion, I just figured I would have to buy diesel on road trips, but finding them was easy with their website:  http://www.smartandfinal.com/locations.aspx  There were some cold night starts in Monterey, so I left the glowplugs on for about 30 seconds or so, and with no problem, she started right up! Each day, I love my veg oil car more and more! Thanks Lovecraft!-tOny www.tikitony.com/vegcar.html

Robert Kinberg here - you did a conversion on my silver 74 benz. She's still running strong in Georgia. Been in New Zealand for a few months and think I'm heading back to L.A. Wondering if you've got any conversions for sale... Let me know. Hope you're well. Robert

Chris
I pulled out of your shop on Sunday and went to Costco. Filled up with three boxes of oil right in the parking lot.  (Many strange stares from people waiting for my parking space.)  When I got on the freeway, I was amazed at the very noticable increase in the car's power and responsiveness. I dont know if this is from the turbo adjustment or the fuel, or both.  As you suggested, I pulled over after a while to find that the exhaust smelled like tempura. I am thrilled with the results of the conversion and cant wait to get the car painted and fixed up. Thanks to you, Mike and Brooke for a job well done. All the best, Chris

ImageOkay it was around 9 pm on Aug. 18, 2006 when my 1984 MB 300D Turbo..transformed from being a strictly dino-diesel consumer to a super Veggie Oil running classic...yes folks, the Black and Tan Car (BaT Car for short) is now a VegCar...she will run on Straight Veg Oil, Waste Veg Oil, BioDiesel (B20-B100) or (as an absolute last resort) Petro-Diesel...... I've chronicled the morph in photos below....my BIG,BIG thanks to Brian, Brooke, Mike, Bob for getting the car all set and making sure I got to pick it up after hours on Friday night....it was an adventure but a HAPPY one at that!!!!

Justin
I'm still driving the yellow 300d up here in Palo Alto, CA. The car has been amazing, and I want to thank you for it. I would love to let people know how well the conversion works. I just put 1500 miles on the car in the last two weeks and it was fantastic... no problems at all under the hood...

ImageEveryone at Lovecraft --Thanks so much for the conversion! I am loving it. We drove it from LA to Denver and back and it was excellent! We even got it up to 80 mph a couple of times - woo hoo! Veggie oil all the way and it sure felt good. We had a supply of SVO from Costco and stopped for more at the Costco in Las Vegas and in Denver. I didn't take any pictures of the car on the trip - but here's a nice rainbow taken from the car as we made our way to 11,013 ft (at the Eisenhower pass on I70) (pre- new windshield wiper blades). And a picture of the fresh wagon before leaving LA. Thanks again! (thanks too for taking the wagonload of empties off my hands) I'm moving on to WVO!

Mitch Oldani
I now have 6K miles since my conversion in April and everything is working great! So far I have used B99, Soy SVO from Costco and recently, finally, my first WVO.

I Lalala LOVE my Mercedes. I sold my Mini Cooper to buy this car and make the switch over to veggie oil. I love the car, the fact that I am helping the environment and not supporting the greed and evil of gas companies. I highly regard and recommend Love Craft Biofuels. xoxo.

... MADE...iT... I had so much fun thanks for the help! I did 75-85 on I 5 and got about 21mpg on veggie. Its so cool to run out of fuel pull over to a rest stop pull out your veggie and fuel up. Its a bit of nervous to go to the starter switch after this but everything works. Way cool to rip I 5 on soy oil. I'm putting together a video ...maybe worthy of your hollywood connections.

early 1980s 300SD--that was converted by Lovecraft to vegetable oil last spring. The conversion has performed great, and I haven't paid a penny for fuel for the car in the last several months--I get all my used vegetable oil for free from a small local Mexican restaurant. It's a great feeling to save money while helping the environment, and giving the proverbial upraised middle finger to the oil companies. Also, I can still run it on diesel if I'm traveling and don't have a ready access to free used veggie oil, or I can stop at Costco while traveling and buy 5-gallon jugs of new soybean oil for about $2.20 a gallon and just pour it into the tank--still a hell of a lot cheaper than diesel, and much cleaner burning.

Dan
ImageHere's a picture of my car after the 10th snow of the season. Even on the coldest days this winter she started right up. And once again, this is a single tank conversion running on 100% SVO or WVO.

ImageSo here's the beauty you converted for me that so reliably gets me around, and took me to Sonoma and back already!  I've been using new soybean oil (Smart 'N Final) while awaiting the restaurant waste.

My wife and I picked up that yellow turbo wagon from you earlier this week. We've been very happy with it so far - thanks again.
Also, I just met with the owner of a restaurant in my neighborhood (
Hollywood) as a supplier of WVO. She was very enthused with the notion of me disposing of her waste soybean oil.

My name is Mark and Im a mercedes diesel mechanic. I have a small auto shop in Hayward,CA. I came across your conversion kit and found it to be the best kit ever made.I was wondering if I can be a distributor of your company. I have a lot of customers wanting to convert their cars to run on veggie oil. Hope to hear from ya.

ImageYou'll be glad to hear that we reached Arizona in the Merc with no problems. We even carried our own oil with us so we did not have to use regular diesel for any of the 600 mile, 9 hour journey.

ImageWe can't say enough about how wonderful Brian, Brooke and everyone at LoveCraft is. They're honest, hard-working and have a vision that's very exciting. Our family is enthusiastic supporters of this new veggie oil phenomenon and LoveCraft is on the cutting edge of it. We have 3 veggie cars now - a sedan, station wagon, and coupe and all three are under Brian's scrupulous care. I've posted a pic of the sedan. Station wagon and coupe pics to come. We love you LoveCraft!

I just wanted to thank you, I love the car.
Keep up the good work

ImageIt's Michelle  from Bellingham WA.  I bought the beautiful gold 1980 300CD. I love my car and love running on veggie oil.  Currently using soybean oil from Cash and Carry.  We've had some unseasonably cold weather, in the 30's and car's running fine.  It's definitely sparking the interest of folks that told me it wasn't possible.  I quickly share your web address with the nay sayers.

ImageI was one of the first 100 Mercedes Diesels to get converted last in August of 2005. I have driven all over California since then putting over 25,000 miles on it. I would sometimes have to go up to San Francisco from Los Angeles twice a month. I put 100% used Canola oil and every now put diesel in. I have not had one problem since I have got the conversion. I've had three other diesels before this and am glad I found Brian to convert my fourth Mercedes Diesel. Best thing I ever done.

Rick
Drove up to Oregon this week. Thought you might like to know that with your system I was able to start up fine in freezing temps, even with the car being covered with morning ice…

Rich from Santa Cruz
Image Hi, I'm Rich from Santa Cruz. I had the good fortune to meet Brian after contacting him through Craigslist about a car he was selling. The car was already sold but being new to this vegetable oil fuel world and having a willing partner at the other end of the phone, I began firing one question after another gaining a wealth of knowledge from Brian's answers along with a healthy dose of confidence that this guy really knows his stuff. From total strangers to kindred spirits in less time than it takes to wolf down a burger, we set up a time and place for Brian to convert an 81 300SD Mercedes I had recently acquired. We hooked up in San Francisco late one afternoon and, after a few twists and turns through the CIty, came to a convenient place to perform the conversion. With surprising ease and very little time, Brian had performed the necessary modifications and off we went to get a supply of vegetable oil for my ride home. After making arrangements to meet again to pick up my home fueling station on Brian's next trip north, and with a tank full of vegetable oil, I fired up the motor, bid Brian and the City By The Bay farewell and began to make my way back to the Original "Surf City" stopping about five minutes after l left Brian, at his suggestion, to smell the exhaust. Yup! This thing really is running on vegetable oil! Seems a little quieter than on the ride up. Somewhere around Daly City about ten miles south of San Francisco I realized I had this big smile on my face. Fast forward about two months and a couple of thousand miles down the road, my fueling station is up and running and I'm out and about collecting waste vegetable oil and enjoying the free lunch. Yes there is one, by my calculations I drive 24 miles to work and another 24 home which is just about a gallon of fuel each way. Today, diesel hit 3.13 a gallon or 6.26 for a round trip back and forth to work. I pull into Subway and pickup a daily special with the works for about five bucks, I'd call that a free lunch, how 'bout you? If you are looking to convert a Mercedes to vegetable oil, there isn't any finer person to perform that operation than Brian. He's researched the parts, he's been his own guinea pig, and he gives each of us starting out in the vegetable oil fuel world the benefit of his vast and varied experience, you can't ask for any more.

Dan
Image"The car is great. I LOVE IT! Thanks. It drove smoothly all the way from LA. These cars really do love the freeway. You can feel it settle right down at 65-75mph. It was interesting how the sound of the engine changes. It really seems to run smoother on the veggie oil. "

Joe
ImageI am absolutely loving this car! You do great work... I'm so happy I found your flyer... Thank you for being so accessible and helpful!
